Twenty-five years ago, Sri Arunodayam was born from deep heartache. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the pain, isolation, and quiet suffering of my own family as we cared for my brother, who lived with Down syndrome. Later, I saw other families navigating a world that simply did not understand intellectual disabilities. Beautiful children, filled with unspoken potential, were left in the shadows or abandoned entirely because they lacked a sanctuary where they could be accepted and valued.

In 2002, I set out to build that sanctuary with little more than a fierce determination to protect them.

Now, as I look back at a quarter-century of Sri Arunodayam’s work, my heart is filled with gratitude. From modest hope arose a thriving sanctuary for hundreds of vulnerable children who once lived unseen and unsupported. We have been privileged to give them what they had lost—a home and a family.

We watched children who were told they would never walk take their very first independent steps. We heard voices once locked in silence burst into laughter and expressive chatter. Through timely medical care, specialised education, rehabilitative therapy, and boundless patience, we proved every day that no child is incapable—they simply require a different timeline.

This Silver Jubilee is the celebration of a proud family, united in every sense of the word. It belongs to our extraordinary caregivers, special educators, therapists, nurses, cooks, and all those who pour their hearts into their work with our children. It belongs to the volunteers who comfort our spirits, and it belongs to you—our donors and well-wishers—who choose to see, accept, and love our children just as they are. You are the pillars behind every miracle that happens under our roof.

As we look toward the next 25 years, our mission calls us further. The need remains vast, especially in rural pockets where resources are devastatingly scarce. That is why our Jubilee vision focuses on extending our arms wider, to ensure that children in forgotten regions have access to the same world-class care as those in our immediate homes.
