Free Mobile Rehabilitation Service for Rural Children with Disabilities
On June 29, 2024, our long-cherished dream came true as we launched “Rehab on Wheels,” our mobile rehabilitation unit, offering free services to the differently abled in Ramasamudram village and its surrounding areas in Thiruvallur District.
Our program’s primary goal is to improve accessibility, comfort, and the quality of care for the differently abled by delivering essential rehabilitation services directly to those who need them most.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner, 5 Star Business Finance Ltd., for sponsoring the specially designed van and for their invaluable support in initiating this remarkable program with us.
Meeting a genuine need
As we embarked on developing our “aftercare ecosystem” in the region, we were moved by the plight of numerous families lacking access to quality rehabilitation services that could significantly improve their quality of life and prospects for the future.
Driven by this realization, we took action by bringing our rehabilitation expertise directly to the most convenient locations in Ramasamudram village, where traditional rehabilitation facilities are scarce.
We actively involve family members in the rehabilitation process to create a supportive growth environment. Our approach focuses on providing personalized care tailored to each child’s specific needs, taking into account their home environment and daily challenges. By delivering these services in familiar surroundings with the presence of family members, we aim to reduce stress and anxiety, thereby positively influencing the rehabilitation progress of each child.

With a reputation built over 22 years in the field of intellectual disabilities, we are well-regarded for our expertise. We understand the urgent necessity for early intervention therapy, especially for differently abled children in rural areas where access to such vital services is limited. In addition to providing rehabilitation therapies for over 400 orphaned children through the years, our “Rehab on Wheels” program caters to children living in family environments that require specialized care beyond what their families can provide. Concurrently, we are actively educating rural communities and raising awareness about intellectual disabilities and the critical importance of early intervention support.

To this end, we envision deploying additional vans and teams to establish a comprehensive “Rehab on Wheels” network to serve children who currently have limited or no access to essential rehabilitation services in rural areas.
