Cyclone Fengal Outreach 2024

Cyclone Fengal struck our beloved Tamil Nadu in December 2024, leaving a trail of devastation. The storm unleashed its fury with torrential rain, ferocious winds, and widespread flooding. Roads and bridges were damaged, cutting off communities and disrupting essential services. Tragically, lives were lost, and many families were left homeless and heartbroken.

Iyyappan, our Founder, personally traveled to affected areas in Tiruttani, Thiruvallur District, witnessing the devastation firsthand. Iyyappan and his dedicated Relief Team established a camp at our aftercare shelter in the affected area, distributing essential supplies to families with children with intellectual disabilities who were struggling to survive.

Assessing Needs and Providing Essential Supplies

  • The area selected for relief efforts was chosen based on the severity of the damage sustained.
  • We engaged with affected families to understand their most critical needs.
  • A temporary relief camp office was set up at our center in Tiruttani, serving as a central hub for collecting, packaging, and distributing relief materials.
  • Over 600 beneficiaries from 150 families impacted by the cyclone received essential supplies.
  • Each family received 5 kilograms of rice, 1 kilogram of semolina (rava), 1 kilogram of toor dal, 1 kilogram of wheat flour (atta), 1 liter of cooking oil, and bed sheets.
