In 2019, we told you about our vision to build a new home for abandoned girls with intellectual disabilities. We are happy to say that the new home is coming to life with each passing day!
Started on August 28, 2019, this project is truly a work of grace! We had been preparing for it back in 2017 but had a difficult time getting approvals from local authorities. Through sheer determination and (loads of) patience, the project took off. We call it a “work of grace” because six short months into construction, the pandemic struck and not only brought construction to a halt but also disrupted donor pledges. Yet, rising like a phoenix, the project resumed in full swing in May this year. Today, we have completed the entire structure, including the roof of the second and final floor. We now begin the next phase of constructing the walls with electrical and plumbing work.
By the end of 2021 this new “residential-cum-rehabilitation” home will house an additional 100+ abandoned children. It is equipped with a medical center, physiotherapy and special education class rooms, a vocational training center, dormitories, restrooms, a centralized kitchen/pantry, a dining room, hydrotherapy spaces, and a garden.
This Christmas, we invite you to join us in the last lap of construction. We know it has been a difficult year, so we will gratefully accept any amount you find in your heart to give. Faced with our own mortality like never before, we have a golden opportunity to leave a lasting legacy that secures society’s most vulnerable citizens. By helping us build this secure refuge that they can call “home”, you become a partner in this wonderful work of grace!
