Our world is ailing and the only cure is love. Not the distorted portrayals we are exposed to, but a love that is grounded in respect for self and others, accepting that every human being has dignity and worth.

True love holds dignity at its core. While we may not all speak the same language, move in the same circles, agree on the same issues, or even worship the same gods, true love accepts the dignity of every person even when they are different from us.

Many of us learnt about dignity by observing how early authority figures in our lives interacted with each other and with us. Today, we live based on those early experiences. We need to ask ourselves if we developed the right understanding... because the dignity of vulnerable children in our country continues to be violated. Children are being devalued and cast aside as if worthless, because they don't have a voice and cannot defend themselves.

There is no getting around the fact that we are accountable for our behaviour. Rituals and religious ceremonies don't mean a thing when we continue to ignore the cries of the helpless. There is no better time than now to begin championing their cause. At Sri Arunodayam, we protect and uphold the rights of abandoned children with intellctual disability. We work to restore their lost dignity.

Join us this Christmas season, and make it matter to these little ones. As our message above says, it is not so much about your presents but your presence. So make your gifts of time and love count because these are the basic ingredients of a truly meaningful Christmas!

Every one of them has a story to tell... if only they could! Beautiful children, abandoned because they are different - "not normal". For centuries, society has treated these individuals as objects of fear and pity, incapable of participating in or contributing to society. But is that really true? Today, we know better.

At Sri Arunodayam, we never lose hope. Our choice to defend such children reflects this hope. Despite the prevailing darkness, we see a light at the end of the tunnel - good people like you! Together, we can make a difference.

As we celebrate this season of love, here are ways to show you care. While it takes very little effort to sponsor a meal, you might want to consider one-time legacy-building options such as contributing to our Corpus Fund or towards the construction of our new home to take in more abandoned little girls.
