"The most powerful way to change the world is to live in front of our children the way we would like the world to be.” - Graham White

On the 26th of February 2023 we completed 21 years of loving service to abandoned children with intellectual disabilities. We count it a blessing to serve them and give them the dignity and respect they deserve. They opened up our hearts in ways that only they could, for which we are incredibly grateful!

We are also grateful to our amazing staff, donors, and well-wishers whose steady support provides the incentive to shoulder even larger projects that transform the lives of precious children. We thank you for believing in our cause and trust that you will continue your journey with us into our 22nd year as well.

Nurturing children with kindness is truly a powerful way to change the world because they will carry what they learn forward. If we must fashion a world for them – let it be a kind one!

New disabled-friendly playground for children

playground5

Children learn as they play. In fact, it's their favorite way of learning! Together with Madras Roundtable and Marc Sauquet Foundation, Sri Arunodayam built a 4000 sq. ft. playground with delightful equipment meant especially for children with special needs. From swings to merry-go-rounds to slides, the disabled-friendly equipment is making enjoyment safe and fun while helping the children build good physical strength and social skills. The outdoor experience is easing their anxiety and positively molding behavior.

Our fun park is situated in front of our new home for girls and is open to ALL children in the locality. As they say, "the more the merrier" rings especially true for children at play!

A champion in the making!

Games are a significant part of life at Sri Arunodayam. Not only do they contribute to muscle and bone development but increase flexibility, coordination and endurance. At Sri Arunodayam we encourage children to remain active in ways that work best for them. Playing together provides a ‘feel-good’ boost while helping them socialize and sleep better. This strategy has paid great dividends, helping Sri Arunodayam walk away with the top trophies at sporting events across the District.

Nithya is a young champion in the making. She’s a star at every sporting event! On the 27th February, Nithya won the first prize for the 100 meters dash at the Chief Minister's Trophy District Level Competition 2022-23 for the differently abled. This is no mean feat especially as 50 schools and more than 300 children with special needs participated in the event. Nithya will soon represent Sri Arunodayam at State level. She is one of many little champs at Sri Arunodayam!
